First thing I'll do is hunt down a decent reference photo on the
web. I'll try to find a semi large one that I can use later on
for
the texture. Save it full size, then make a second smaller
copy to use as a blue print for modeling.

Load this image in as your background image to use as a
reference.

Sorry.. Been down for awhile, unfortunately. My monitor litterally, went up in smoke and took my tower down with it. It's taken me awhile ('ehm .. lack of money) to trouble shoot it and get it back up and running.

Alpha Map Lesson
I have to say first off, that materials in the Game Engine aren't
exactly tied in with the materials for the normal Blender Modelling
Mode...
Example..
Add a plane in Blender, facing along the Y-axis..

I just came across this site of a man who developed an Ivy Generation program. Very impressive. I've add his site to our web links library.
April - 7 - 2007
Model your object. Export in .obj format. Start the Ivy Generator. Import your object. Choose the Ivy settings - grow - birth leaves.. Export your Ivy. Import back into your blender file.
I have a few examples up in the gallery that I made today. Looks great. I had to flip the leaf patters (Horizontally) for them to come out right.
